Through the nurturing guidance of an adult mentor, every child can achieve and become an active and productive member of the community. It is our mission to ensure that children in Southern Maine who are in need of caring mentors are given this opportunity.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people, focusing on prevention, primarily through professionally supported one-to-one relationships with volunteers, enriching their lives and our community.

Program Summary

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine is affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, a national federation of organizations serving children, families and communities. With offices located at 195 Lancaster Street, Portland and at the North Dam Mill at 2 Main Street in Biddeford, our program matches area children —"Littles” — with adult "Bigs” who act as mentors by providing friendship, support and guidance during the critical childhood and adolescent years.
